Onion Dip

Saffron's Table: Onion Dip

Store-bought onion dip and Cape Cod Potato Chips made an appearance every time we would have friends over in the States, but now that we are in Luxembourg our store-bought options for things like dips or even salad dressings are lacking. So for the Super Bowl this year, I decided to figure out how to make my own.

ONION DIP

~2 Cups

4 oz Cream Cheese, room temperature

½ cup Sour Cream ½ cup Mayo 2 tablespoons Dried Onion Flakes 2 teaspoons Dried Parsley ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder ¼ teaspoon Salt

1 tablespoon (+/-) Fresh Chives, finely diced (to taste)

Measure out the cream cheese and let sit until room temperature. This makes it easier to mix together.

Place the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo into small bowl and mix together with a fork until all incorporated.

Add the onion flakes, dried parsley, garlic powder, and salt to the cream cheese mixture and mix well.

Add the finely diced chives - I use a pair of kitchen scissors to add a little at a time, constantly mixing until I get the look and taste I desire. Make at least 1 hour before you wish to serve, and lasts about a week.
